Q.How do you frame or structure your mortgage service when dealing with an Expat? What should someone expect when they come to you looking for mortgage advice when they want to purchase a property here?
A. I want to be the person who is in contact from the first moment when client is looking for a first calculation to find out the price range he can get approved for a mortgage till the moment client is going to the notary for the handover and getting the keys of his new home! All the questions a client has somewhere in the process will be answered by me. Beside of that clients also can use my good contacts I have regarding brokers ( aankoopmakelaars) and valuators.
Q. As an independent mortgage advisor, you can offer your clients a variety of products from different mortgage providers instead of being tied to one or two. Do you feel that you are able to offer your clients the best deal this way?
Yes, I am really an independent adviser. So I am not working for just one bank, offering his own products. But I can offer mortgages from lots of different providers. I can compare the best interest rates in market, but also the best and most flexible conditions. All what fits best in interest of clients.
Q. What are the pros and cons of being an independent advisor?
A. I think most important difference is the fact that when you independent you always can chose for the best option at that moment. Like said by making comparisons between all the different providers. Also I ll handle the whole application proces towards mortgage providers myself, so Ill always be the direct contact to clients
Q. What are the biggest changes to mortgages and mortgage products you’ve seen in the last few years and do you see things getting easier or more difficult for people when applying in the current market? Do you see things becoming more difficult specifically for Expats in the current market?
A.The world is changing fast a lot and clearly all changes impact housing market and arranging a mortgage as well. People are more careful in making new steps, but banks are sometimes fore reserved as well. Interest rates increased as well last year. So, yes, there is a lot going on in the market and the future is still unclear for now. Interest rates are expected to increase even further. Also there are stricter rules for refinancing investment properties. The changing housing market is also a factor.
